The Road to the Next Great Career Opportunity

February 3rd - my first day of unemployment, sorta. Still need to sign back all the official paperwork and then wait for my ROE before I head online to the EI site. I was going to title this the Unemployment Road, but thought I would try to keep the tone more positive.

Paperwork aside, it was a busy day. At 12:01 a.m. I sent out a mass e-mail to all of my better known contacts telling that yes, I'm unemployed - again, and any help they could provide in getting me to my next great career opportunity would be greatly appreciated. Got some responses almost immediately. Some people are just wonderful. No jobs, but it's good to know you have the support of friends and former colleagues. The more eyes and ears on the street looking for me, the better.

The one good thing about being unemployed is that you get to sleep in a little later than usual. Don't want to make it a habit. I awoke to lots of responses and well wishes. Some contacts have asked me to forward my resume and some have provided job leads. Whoo hoo.

On the advice of a now former colleague, I tried to make my Twitter account look a little more active, but none of my friends use Twitter so it's hard to get in the habit of posting. I'm really not into giving everyone hourly updates of my life. Even this blog is a new thing for me. We'll see how long the daily updates last.
