The e-mails keep pouring in, which is great. I had sent out another round to e-mails to my lesser known contacts late last night and again, some friends respond immediately. You really find out who your friends are when you're unemployed.
Unemployment has no pride, so I have no problem contacting friends and colleagues that I haven't talked to in years. Sent out the resume to a couple of headhunters but I have yet to land a job through a headhunter so I'm not holding my breath there. I continue to scour all of the job sites but there's not a whole lot out there. Plus, my former Bell Aliant colleagues just informed me that they too, were laid off as of this morning. Crap. Now there's more of us scrambling for the same job postings. Well, they say misery loves company and the company just got bigger.
Spent a little time documenting my interview talking points - mostly trying to come up with my accomplishments at Bell Aliant and SceneCaster. It's kinda embarrassing. Did I do anything worth noting. You'll have to interview me to find out.
Took a bit of time to review my niece's resume. She's on the hunt to secure a summer job. A young girl in 3rd year university should not have a 3-page resume, and I told her as much. My resume isn't even three pages. Lots of irrelevant and redundant points - took them all out. Cleaned up the formatting. Geez, I think I could conduct a resume building class.
